christmas-drinks-and-hot-holiday-beverages The holidays are officially over but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy another couple month’s worth of yummy, hot seasonal beverages to make the winter season a little more enjoyable. We know that seasonal coffee drinks like pumpkin spice lattes and eggnog lattes are on the minds of many right now, so we thought we’d give you a few recipes for these drinks and a couple of others (including a non-coffee bonus treat). If you love the flavors of the season, but don’t want to pay or drive for a hot drink from a coffee shop, you can make your own special recipes at home.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

green-mountain-coffee-pumpkin-spice-k-cups-seasonal Want to know how to make a real pumpkin spice latte, with real pumpkin instead of pumpkin flavoring? It’s easy. Simply brew one cup of coffee and pour it into a saucepan. Whisk in 1/4 cup of pureed pumpkin, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and ground cloves, and 1/4 cup of milk like almond milk or soy milk. Heat to desired temperature, sweeten if you like, and pour into your favorite mug.

Peppermint Mocha

Peppermint mocha is a favorite hot holiday beverage because it offers fun and delicious flavors that have long been associated with the holiday. You can make your very own peppermint mocha with candy canes, cocoa, and a few other ingredients, for yourself and your family. Kids love this drink, so if you have little ones, then you can easily substitute the brewed coffee for more milk and give them a coffee-free holiday beverage. For adults, whisk 1 cup brewed coffee, 1 heaping tablespoon unsweetened pure cocoa powder, 1/4 cup coconut or soy milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract in a saucepan. Heat until it reaches the desired temperature, pour into a mug, and place a candy cane into each cup.

Eggnog Latte

It makes for a rich and creamy eggnog latte that doesn’t have eggs in it, but it still has the familiar flavor of eggnog. Again, start with 1 cup of brewed coffee poured into a saucepan. Add 1/4 cup of full fat coconut milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, a pinch of ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla. Whisk, heat to desired temperature, and pour into a special mug.

Hot Apple Cider

To compliment your hot Christmas coffee drinks, you can make a warm apple cider on occasion. For this drink, you’ll want to pour 1 cup of organic apple cider into a saucepan. Add a pinch each of ground cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Heat until warm and ladle into your holiday mug.

Enjoy the Season With a Warm Cup in Your Hand!

All of these drinks are perfect winter treats, and they’re ideal for taking with you in to-go cups as you rush around town this season. Enjoy them, and enjoy the season!
